In addition, most Americans have very little geographic education.
How dare you Sweeney! What makes you think that? I'm smart! I can read a map! See?....
went and saw atlas shrugged part 1 at the rave theater here in little rock friday night.
i was surprised it showed here since it had such a limited showing.. anyway i was really surprised at how well it was done on such a limited budget and a very tight and short schedule to have the whole picture done and it really followed the book very well.
i went to the 7:15 showing and the theater was packed but but not sold out.

Terry, I liked the book but I'm not sure if I'll see the movie. I read everywhere that it sucked, but like you, I don't like letting critics make up my mind for me. However, I personally feel that they could have done a better job casting this movie. Atlas Shrugged, regardless of whether a person loved it or hated it, is a difficult project to convert to a movie. It has to be done all or nothing. Use the best actors, best producers and best directors or don't even bother. That's how Dagney would've wanted it.
i'm so tired of hearing people setting goals for themselves.
i know people who are in there early twenties with the goal of being a c.o.
do people just wake up one day and say "i think ill become a c.o" well i know some girls that want to marry a c.o.
Heartofaboy & poopsie - I've heard of JW ladies doing this, but the ones I knew were simply using this as a sort of "cover". The second they were out of mommy & elder daddy's sight they were in the backseat of a car with ANY JW boy they could find doing things that shan't be mentioned by a pristine gentlemen such as myself.

...set up a literature counter and use only sisters.
And make them serve wings, too.
look at the movie title above the entrance to the corny jw-appropriate movie.
i thought it said "running dump".. this made my day.
i need a drink.. mf.
He said that if witnesses were in a crowd, anyone should be able to easily pick them out of the crowd as JW's based on what they were wearing and how they were acting.
well coming from an old white guy like Gerrit, I would imagine that Senor Losch uses his super powers to spot other characters too. Like a black man (criminal), a hispanic (Santaria-practicer) or and whorish, fornicating unwed mother (lady with a child).
That idiot probably still believes in phrenology.
As you can see, Mr. Falcon has the brainpan of a stagecoach tilter.
i am catching up on this july 15th study watchtower everyone is talking about.
it's perhaps a bit more intense in its vitriol than has been published in the watchtower in a long while (since the early 1980s apostate witch hunt) but it's stuff we've all heard before, even down to comparing apostasy to an illness and calling apostates mentally diseased.. but the phrase that stuck out for me was this:.
they may arise from within the congregation.
"He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother."
p.s. John Hurt's version was great but Peter Cushing's version kicked ass all over the place.

sir82 - That hat is horrible. If I drove by this line of people and saw that guy with that hat, I would drive my car straight into the crowd.
lol why does the Suck-ciety hate jeans so much? Slacks to a movie? Really?
when the two sons of hardcore JWs finally dared to play football with the congregation, they came along in slacks and shirts too. i think they were about 25 by then. they soon started to use jeans for work and one of them even learned how to swim. but they still are hardcore JWs.
good observations. One time an elder turned to me during the meeting with one of the Paradise tracts in his hand and asked, "Why does the Society thing we are going to wear nothing but khakis in the new world?"
You guys are right. The WTBS has some deep-seated hatred against denim. I have no idea why. Maybe Russell saw something in the pyramids about jeans.
And Ra placed on a curse on all who wear Jordache.

i really shouldn't have to say any of this but as someone who is in the process of learning a second language, i can tell that simple language makes things a lot clearer when you are not familiar with the language.
everyone on here started out reading simplified english while they were learning, including you native speakers.
i'm sure no one here was reading on a college level in elementary school.
Sorry, The watchtower is dumbed down, whatever edition you take. It is produced by a dumbed down organisation, for dumbed down readers like djeggnog!
Yup. Let's call a spade a spade.
Hey, here's a related thought. Will the dumbed down issue be recieving a audio version too? If so, will they be getting Ben Stein in his Ferris Bueller voice to do the reading?
i'm sure many have noticed that.
now obviously many more will go out in fs than usual and such because the co brings more "insight" on fs than the usual brothers.
understandable i guess.
When I was little I always thought the CO's were they almost magical guys who you were supposed to look up to. It wasn't until I got older and had to work with them that I realized that they are usually nothing more than a over-the-top Ned Flanders type who prefer living out of a car with your cantakerous old battle axe wife, never have kids and get a lifetime of free meals.
YAY! the Circuit Overseer is here!!!!
